Bio
Maggie Paucek is a professional music educator and musician with roots in Wisconsin who is now growing a musical garden in Colorado. She was recognized by the Wisconsin Music Educators Association (WMEA) as an emerging leader in music education in 2018. Maggie served on the WMEA Advocacy Committee, an organization whose goal is to educate communities about the inherent benefits of music education, helping decision-makers understand that “Music Makes The Difference.” Maggie has a Lifetime Teaching License in Instrumental and General Music Education from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
Maggie earned her Bachelor's degree in Instrumental and General Music Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, including certification for teaching students early childhood through adulthood. While at UW-Whitewater, she served as principal clarinetist in the Whitewater Symphony Orchestra, and she performed at New York City’s Carnegie Hall and Chicago’s Orchestra Hall with the UW-Whitewater Symphonic Wind Ensemble. For her musicianship, she has garnered many awards and honors, including the Raymond E. and Zenobia Light Memorial Scholarship for outstanding artistic achievement.
Her professional musical experiences include teaching 5-12 grade bands, teaching band instrument lessons and sectionals, teaching at summer band camps, adjudicating school music festivals, and performing with local concert bands, jazz bands, orchestras, and theatre productions in Wisconsin and Colorado. Recently, she has subbed with Vintage Theatre, Candlelight Dinner Theatre, and the Denver Concert Band. She actively teaches woodwind sectionals with a number of Denver-area schools, including University Park Elementary, Cory Elementary, and Heritage High School, as well as serves as lead teacher for the High Plains Elementary Band.
When Maggie isn’t teaching, practicing, performing, studying, or building materials for her students, she spends her time seeking good thrift finds, climbing on rocks, admiring the outdoors, gardening, and cooking up delicious dishes. If Maggie isn’t doing any of the above things, it’s because there’s a cat (or two) on her lap... =^..^=
